Summary:
Drawing on new and original empirical data, including interviews with gamers, as well as key representatives of the video game industry, media, and the fields of education and arts, my research provides a consideration of how video games and their culture can help us understand agency, power, everyday life, identity, and the processes of subjectification in contemporary society. But it also provides an important lens for understanding, from a sociological point of view, video games as experience, culture, and sociotechnical assemblages.
